Oscilloscope Exploratory scientific investigator could perhaps be a more accurate title for how we view a true paranormal investigator. We see using the equipment listed on GetGhostGear.com going something like this: Take readings in your investigation location, establish a normal baseline over an extended period of time, watch data for anomalies over another extended period of time, create testable theories around average and anomalous data that could support reported experiences, test those theories. That's it folks. There are specific theories already in existence that do require specialized equipment to test. One such theory discussed in great detail on GetGhostGear.com is the MADS project. Oscilloscope- Where as a sound level meters typically monitor the amount of sound in any given environment, an oscilloscopes can be thought of instead of showing total sound present, they show very specific information of sound emanating at frequencies that they are calibrated and manufactured to focus on. These frequency ranges can be below, in and above average human capacity. Monitoring frequencies out of the normal scope of human ear can give great clues and leads as to what is behind the anomalies reported. This is a great device to use in conjunction with an audio recording device when experimenting with EVP. Once again a PC interface can have additional features that are helpful with specific theories. Beyond that, we would quickly move into needing advance arrays of sound monitoring equipment. Equipment such as oscilloscopes, and sophisticated antennas capable of monitoring extremely low frequencies (ELFs) and ultra frequencies all paired together with sound level meters, connected to a PC with appropriate software's become the next step. That type of setup has its restrictions due to cost for most people. We feel that more research down this path is justified at this time to learn more about the environment during a perceived paranormal experience. Absent of specific theories being tested, the sound level meter still helps us monitor another variable that could later be used to explain reported paranormal experiences. Learning as much about the environment that our investigations occur in, lends us a greater possibility to notice patterns, or other explanations for any anomalies being investigated.
